Bio Note: I live in Berkeley, California where I have been teaching meditation to children in my community for fifteen-years. I am a multiple Pushcart Prize and Best Of The Net nominee, and the author of nine books of poetry.

light weight of everything

because everything today
is happening like a dream
gentleness pleasure
sunbeams placing their heat

the voice of a child passes by

a young mother’s movements
as rhythmic as dancing
her enormous earrings
and darting eyes

her delicate voice with the child

from the road, a boombox-beat,
a car stops,
and with vibrating windows
the car invites the mother and child

I glimpse the driver’s smiling face

because today the satisfied sky
has a blue glow but the car
is a thundering instrument,
walking-by, a gray-haired man

motions his hands in disapproval
