Author's Note: The old monk continues to haunt me, giving me poems faster than I can type them up. Happily, the Oragami Poems Project will be publishing Maybe Holy: Six Old Monk Poems in the coming year. If you would like to have a copy when it comes out, please let me know and send your mailing address.

from "The Old Monk Poems"

Any more than this
would be too much

the old monk said
when they gave him

a thin blanket
for a bed and

only a stone
to rest his head.

from "The Old Monk Poems"

You can invite
the stillness,
the old monk says,

but you can't
make it come.

from "The Old Monk Poems"

I have chosen
stone for my next

incarnation,
the old monk said.

I have progressed
only that far.
